Celebrating Our 90th In Style!

Meeting several times, the Reunion Committee has been working hard to make this year’s reunion special. First of all, they have picked a great place for our reunion. The place is the day lodge at John Bryan State Park. The lodge is not only equipped with restrooms and a kitchen, it also is air conditioned. Outside the day lodge is a sand volleyball court, horse shoe pits, and 20 picnic tables. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and coffee maker. So this years reunion we can celebrate in comfort and style.

Where In The World Is John Bryan?

John Bryan State Park is, of course in Ohio, half way between Xenia and Springfield near Yellow Springs. It s a beautiful park which is part of the Buck Creek/John Bryan State Park Region. It is the most scenic State Park in western Ohio. The park contains a remarkable limestone gorge cut by the Little Miami River, which is designated as a state and national Scenic River. A portion of the gorge itself is designated as a national natural landmark. Some of the activities you can participate in are camping, walking and biking trails, rock climbing, picnicking, and fishing. If you would like to stay the weekend you can choose to camp at one of their 60 sites. 50 of these sites have electric hook up. Although the camping sites are nice the camping area does not have flush toilets or showers. Unless you have an RV, you will have to rough it a little.  For more information go to the website: http://www.johnbryan.org

Reynolds Making History

Howard Reynolds, Reunion Historian, has put many hours of work on the family tree and gathering family history. For the reunion he will work with other members of the committee, to put together a slide show of the Reynolds family through the decades. At the reunion we will have a display table with photo albums and other historical items related to our family. The focus of this display will be a video slide show of photos from family members and of past reunions. We need your HELP! First, we need family photos, old and new. Please help our efforts to gather information about all the Reynolds’ families. Second, we would like you to fill out a family chart (which is included with this newsletter.) Please included with this chart biographical information about the individuals in your family throughout the years. Include information like jobs, activities, organizational involvement, etc. This information will be great to have for our extended family historical records, but also for your own records. Please send all this information to him by e-mail to:

Thank you for all your help and support.

Going, Going, Gone!

It has been the tradition, now for several years, to have a brown bag auction. If you haven’t been to an reunion in a while, I’ll tell you how it works. First of all attendees to the reunion bring items placed in a paper bag (usually the brown lunch bags.) On the outside of the bag they write a clue to what is inside the bag. They also put if it is for a female or male, and a child or adult. At the reunion every bids on the bags. The bid starts at a quarter and ends at $2.00 (or the highest bid.) This year we’ve added another auction for the bigger ticket items (items valued over $2.00). This will be a silent auction. We are hoping attendees can donate an item they’ve made, for example; jewelry, pottery, drawing, or a painting. If you are not the creative type, you can donate a new or gently used item. Something you might have gotten for a gift that you never used or only use for a short time that looks like new. This should be a fun and
entertaining addition to our event.

Bringing Back a “Cool” Tradition

Back at the early Reynolds Reunions they had ice cream. Since we have a refrigerator and freezer at the day lodge, we thought this would be a good opportunity to bring back this old tradition. What we decided to do is make ice cream. However to make ice cream we need those who have an ice cream making machine to bring theirs with supplies to make ice cream. If you need help with supplies, lets us know and we will post a request on the
website. Also let us know if you have a machine and/or supplies and that you will be bring it to the reunion. We also like to ask everyone to bring their favorite topping. Be creative, bring a topping different, unusual, or unique. Let see if your topping is one of a kind. You can email us with info about your ice cream making machine at:

What’s New For This Year's Reunion?

Because this is the 90th reunion we decided to make this reunion special. We first put a special reunion committee together during the 88th and 89th reunion. After that the committee got busy planning all the events for this year. First of all we kept our current schedule but added extra hours before and after which includes dinner. Again, we ask everyone to bring a dish or two to serve about 20 people. Also bring your own utensil and plates. We will provide lemonade, but if you want anything else to drink, please bring what ever you want (but sorry no alcohol.) And please feel free to bring a deserts to share. Because we have the lodge this year, we can store the food is the refrigerator
between meals.
We also plan to make ice cream as I mentioned in the previous story. We will have volleyball, corn hole, softball and  horse shoe available to play with all day. We will also have a play or sing along with karaoke after dinner. Bring and instrument to play or just your voice to sing along with karaoke. We also hope to have a reunion t-shirt and maybe other items for you to purchase. More information about this will follow in the next mailing or check the website: ReynoldsRUs.org.

Please let us know of anyone who has not come to the reunion or who doesn’t receive this newsletter. E-mail us at:
